Testing
Testing is an exciting part of training that students always look
forward to. At Master Romao Taekwondo School tests are conducted
in groups, black belt promotional tests are conducted twice a year
and general promotional tests are offered every three months. It
is a priviledge for the schools' black belts to gain experience
as a judge which are led by Master Romao.
Grand Master Woo Kim continues to be a part of our schools tests
where our students are given the opportunity to demonstrate their
techniques, skills,
and positive attitude.
The
goal of a promotional test is to provide students with a sense of
growth and development within the art of Taekwondo. Students sit
quietly at the back of the dojang, waiting for their names to be
called. As a way to determine a students attitude and self-confidence
the panel of black belts ask each student a few questions. A student
never know what they will be asked and children can be the greatest
inspiration and many parents have been deeply moved while some students
motivate others to share a few chuckles. The following are some
questions asked to the younger students during promotion tests:
Question:
“What do you want to be when you grow up and how will
taekwondo help you to achieve that goal?”
“I want to be a veterinarian. I will use perseverance because
if an animal is dying I won’t give up.”
Question:
“Can you give us an example of how you practice one of
the tenants of taekwondo?”
“Courtesy, by showing respect to others, instead of calling
someone “kid” I use their name. Like the other day I
saw a kid I knew and instead of me yelling – hey kid! I called
him by his name.”

taekwondo?”
The shy four year old while belt slightly fidgeted with his belt
