At Master Romao's Taekwondo School, classes are taught for beginners, intermediate, and advanced levels; black belts also participate with the demonstration team and tournament sparring classes are held weekly.

All programs are based on the traditions of taekwondo, primarily it's philosophy and promoting high ethical standards.

Testing

Testing is an exciting part of training that students always look forward to. At Master Romao Taekwondo School tests are conducted in groups, black belt promotional tests are conducted twice a year and general promotional tests are offered every three months. It is a priviledge for the schools' black belts to gain experience as a judge which are led by Master Romao.

Grand Master Woo Kim continues to be a part of our schools tests where our students are given the opportunity to demonstrate their techniques, skills,
and positive attitude.

The goal of a promotional test is to provide students with a sense of growth and development within the art of Taekwondo. Students sit quietly at the back of the dojang, waiting for their names to be called. As a way to determine a students attitude and self-confidence the panel of black belts ask each student a few questions. A student never know what they will be asked and children can be the greatest inspiration and many parents have been deeply moved while some students motivate others to share a few chuckles. The following are some questions asked to the younger students during promotion tests:

Question: “What do you want to be when you grow up and how will taekwondo help you to achieve that goal?”

“I want to be a veterinarian. I will use perseverance because if an animal is dying I won’t give up.”

Question: “Can you give us an example of how you practice one of the tenants of taekwondo?”

“Courtesy, by showing respect to others, instead of calling someone “kid” I use their name. Like the other day I saw a kid I knew and instead of me yelling – hey kid! I called him by his name.”

Question: “What is the most important thing you have learned in taekwondo?”

The shy four year old while belt slightly fidgeted with his belt and quietly answered, “No fooling around”

Question: “What is your best kick?”

“The roundhouse kick.”    Question: "What do you want to improve the most?"

“The roundhouse kick. "

Question: “Why did you join taekwondo?”

“Because my mom told me to.”

Question: “What advise would you like to give to other students?”

“Well, if you want to wash your dobak (uniform) don’t wash it with red towels, that’s what my brother did he didn’t wear it again because it turned pink.”

Question: “How do you practice self control?”

“I stay calm if someone is having a bad day.”

Question: “What is the hardest thing you have learned in taekwondo?”

“Standing still without scratching my head or looking around.”

Question: “Who is your hero?”

“My mom, my dad, my sister, my brother … and Master Romao!”

Question: “What do you call a uniform in Korean?”

“A down block.” (The correct answer is dobak)

Question: “What did you learn by competing at the last tournament?”

“Just yell like crazy when you are sparring and if you make a mistake keep going until the referee tells you to stop! (This five year old took home a silver in poomse and a gold in sparring)
